My hearing test audiogram

Here are the results of my latest pre-implant hearing test, taken a few weeks ago.  Normal hearing senses sounds between 0-20 decibels (dB) at the top of chart.  Profound hearing loss is towards the bottom. Every increase of 10dB sounds twice as loud. A pneumatic drill is normally around 120dB, and usually causes pain.

  2. Thanks for uploading your audiograms - it makes it much easier to compare your situation with mine.

Across the spectrum your hearing is 10 to 20 dB worse than mine so I'm quite sure that conventional hearing aids will never be powerful enough to help you enough.

I look forward to reading more of this blog, particularly your feelings between the operation and switch-on. That's the bit that scares me the most. :-)

  3. Wow, I think you're deafer then I am! I am really curious to see how you get on and I sometimes wonder if I would be a suitable candidate, the only thing is that my hearing aids help me so much that I am quite reluctant to run the risk of losing that.

    Good luck with everything.
